Microporus polypropelene (something to that extent)

What is the material that JRB used on their weathershield set when they produced it, and more importantly, where can I get it?

I plan on building my own weathershield when (and if) I decide to get the HH ULBA.

as a bonus question, does it come in more stealthy colors?

    thanks

Yes the JRB Weathershield was made from Microporus polypropelene like the Frogg Togg rain suits. Dont know who sells it. JRB plans on selling the Weathershield again.

Yes, that's the material. JRB quit making the weathershield b/c they couldn't get the material anymore. And I think that, even when they could get it, it only came in big rolls at any width useful for making gear from it. Don't know why they stopped making it - JRB would know.

Might call Frogg Toggs and see if they'll tell you where they get it from. If you can get anything less than a forklift-sized roll, definitely post it here!

IMHO, a Neat Sheet is a suitable replace for the MPP used in the JRB weather shield. I have a DIY version of the weather shield

Did JRB sonicweld it together? I hate to say this... I've been finding some cheap ultrasonic welders on ebay and been saving my pennies... I know that is how dry ducks ensure waterproof seams... and I think it would make a great replacement to my sewing machine

JRB didn't have seams in the middle of their weathershields...only around the perimeters. No need for seamsealing or welding.

Isn't microporous polypropylene what OB / GYN and surgical sheets are made from? If so, hospitals should be able to tell you DYI types were to get some sheets suitable for what you guys want to do (the largest surgical drapes)

thanks jeff, good to know. thanks for the lead frolicking dino. I'm a big fan of coming up with crazy acronyms so when you put DYI up there my brain immediately spit out "Do Yourself In" which is applicable sometimes

Yes, FD - it's used for all kinds of medical supplies. Google it and you'll find all kinds of 1"-3" bandages...and not much more. Pretty sure you can still get it in big rolls from overseas, though.
