3 season burrow @ 50 F ??? Will it be too hot.

Hi all

As the thread is titled, would I get to hot with a 3 season burrow if temps got to 50 F or worst case 60 F. I'd be running a 3 season crowsnest as a UQ.

Would I cook if I had no base clothing on in these temps.

I have summer quilts but they will not handle under 40 F temps and I have a trip in Nov to Mt Kosiosko and temps can still drop to 25 F so summer quilts are not an option for this alpine trip.
Also I will have to grrr go to ground for a night and the 3 season burrow might be well suited for that.

NO! If you get too hot just ventilate and go back to sleep. I have a burrow and have slept in conditions just as you describe (even on the ground) with great success, and I am a warm sleeper. I have also used my burrow in colder temperatures and have not been cold either. HYOH/YMMV

I've found that down has a much wider temp range than synthetic.

Some examples:
I use a 45 degree down bag into the 70s. I usually start with it off and about 4am, when I start to get cold, I pull it on top of me.

My wife uses her 20 degree down bag in the house while shes laying on the couch with the thermostat set at 65.

I have a synthetic bag rated at 20 degrees. It works when it's 30-40 and that's about it. Any colder I freeze and any warmer, I sweat.

i agreee with nacra. i use my 20+ bag all seasons. sometimes i am burrowed into it in a little ball trying to get as much down on top of me as i can. other times i have it kicked off me and underneath my feet... you'll be good with it.

if it doesn't work out i have a crappy 40 degree synthetic that is probably only really warm to 50, that i would trade you for the burrow
