    Single or double?

    Hi All,
This my first post on this site and I must say I have found heaps of cool info thanks all. I live down here in Australia and think back country hammock camping with a little hunting could be the solution to sore shoulders, hips and back that I normally get from sleeping on the ground. To my question.

Is a double hammock going to be more comfy to sleep in than a single?

I'm sleeping alone and for a few extra dollars I'm wondering if it would be worth it. Thanks to this forum I've already decided how I'll hang my gear so it's off the ground my question above is the only thing I'm not sure about.

    Thanks heaps in advance.
    Bruce

I prefer the double layer 1.7 due to it having less stretch and a flatter lay.

I got a Trek Light double hammock. At the time I was pretty much clueless about hammocks in general, but thought the double gave me more room to stretch out. Now that I've started using my hammock for outdoor sleeping as well as lounging, I'm glad I have the extra space to get more diagonal. Never tried a single though, so it may not be all that different. Since I'm a rafter, not a backpacker, the extra weight of a double wasn't a consideration.

i have a hammock bliss double and after lounging in my friends ENO single, my subscription to double sized hammock was reinstated for lifetime renewal. the extra space for me is paramount especially for using it as a lounger
    ...in it for pics.

I read the title and was thinking double layer.
I've never tried a double size hammock, but I definitely prefer a double layer! Great place to stuff a bit of insulation (thin CCF pad) on cool nights. Between the two layers the pad never moves.

Now you've got me wondering - double size & double layer?????

I have an ENO single, and while it's nice for lounging on the balcony, I find it a little small for sleeping and have ordered a double. I also have two cats sleeping with me so the extra room is good for them too.

    Hello Brooster38.

I'm into hammock camping for exactly the same reason as you. Comfy, light weight hunting & camping.

I purchased a Warbonnet Blackbird 1.0 double. Plenty big enough for my 5'11" 82kg's with room to spare and plenty of comfort.

I have a balckbird for the **** flies and mozzies as they have a built in bugnet. I'm sure you'll agree this is a must.

Also I have a double, as in double base, two layers, not for putting a pad in but to stop the mozzies biting through the thin ripstop nylon, I read that they can get through one layer of material but two will stump the buggers.

Not sure on a double width as I haven't tried one.

Goodluck and you will not look back once down this path......
