    McCat vs. Superfly

Sorry for being redundant but I posted this a couple days ago and can't find it in any threads (seems to have disappeared?) so I have to ask this---again.

I'm waiting for my new WBBB and was wondering which tarp everyone likes best and thinks would work best for me.....the McCat or the Superfly?

I hate being cold and I prefer one with room for some privacy for changing,ect....

    Thanks for your help!

For winter I like the Superfly because it has longer sides allowing to pitch closer to the ground. For everything else I prefer my MacCat Deluxe.

Thanks Pizza! I don't plan on a lot of winter camping so would the McCat be sufficient for everything else? Three season while keeping warm/dry in inclimate weather?

I sent my MacCat to 2Q/ZQ to have the doors added. If you email Brian at OES though he can make your tarp with doors. The 2Q/ZQ doors are the bomb though. If you can handle the added cost I'd get the doors. The Superfly comes with removable doors. They work good but I would prefer them to be permanently sewn on. I just don't care for the extra setup time.

MacCat Deluxe is a great tarp and perfect for 3 season. held out to a good rain storm too with everything being dry.

Superfly is HUGE with doors is like a tent.

It's basically a comfort level thing. If you want super coverage and doors go superfly. If you want to save some weight but have decent coverage go Deluxe.

I have them both and I love them both. I use the SF in the winter with my doors and I use the McCat on longer summer trips. If I am expecting rain and want room to cook our sit with another person the SF is perfect. You will be very happy with either of these tarps.

Thanks so much for the replies everyone--sincerely appreciated!

If you don't min a few more questions as I wade thru this....??

The SF sounds ideal as I would like to have room for cooking and another person to hang with. Can I do these things with the MC as well? And how much weight difference is there between them? Not asking so much specifically but rather do you notice one FEELING heavier when packing in?

    HH,

When you say MacCat you really need to be specific as to which one. There are different sizes and different weights especially if you go SpinnUL fabric versus Silnylon fabric.

But to be honest I think the Superfly would probably be the better option for you.

Sorry! I was just hoping for anyone's suggestion on either one. And I was thinking as cheap as possible....

    Thanks again!
