VIDEO: 2sticks Savage Gulf overnight trip

2sticks and I took a quick overnight trip to the Savage Gulf. She planned the trip so it was a short hike with lots of camp time. We went to the camp area above Savage Falls which was dry but this just gave 2sticks more places to play on the rocks in the creekbed.

Since we were not hiking very far we took some time to show off the gear we were using. 2sticks covers her hike and some of her personal carry gear in Part I. I will post Part II in the DIY forum since it covers our DIY bridge hammocks, my pack, and other DIY gear.

It was a nice trip just to get out in the woods. I have had to work the past 12 weeks out-of-town so it was nice to spend time with 2sticks in the woods.

    Enjoy

Man, that is awesome to see you and your daughter out like that. I cannot wait to get my daughter out in the woods like you guys. My daughter is 3 this week, I have had her in the hammock with me but not out in the woods yet. Not sure at what age I should start that, don't want her to have a bad time then not want to do it again! How did you get your daughter so interested and what age? Awesome video again! Great to see kids getting out in the woods!

Hmmm ... think she'd be interested in a bit of cameo work on a Gorge Rat Productions video later this month?

WARNING: Will discuss Rhurbarb Strawberry Pie and Livermush at random.

We had a flood in the area in May but dry as a bone in October 2sticks enjoys readying the nice comments also

2sticks joined our family when she was 2. She started hanging out in the hammocks overnight when she was around 4. We did the base camp thing for a couple years and started short overnight hikes after that. 2sticks can hike all day (if she wants to) but she prefers the exploring parts of the trips. I think every kid is different and the most important thing is to make sure they have fun. 2sticks likes being out exploring in the woods. I am just along for the ride..

I see she's learning proper knife handling. Smart young lady
She forgot to tell the part about Mom opening the package while I was out of town. 2sticks wanted to wait until I got home. Mom opened the package, pulled the knife from the sheath, and sliced her finger wide open. This left an impression on 2sticks that being careful is important

Hmmm ... think she'd be interested in a bit of cameo work on a Gorge Rat Productions video later this month?
Probably cost you a Jolly Rancher (blue is her favorite)

I am always up for a trip close to home. Hiked the Fiery Gizzard in the rain and thunderstorms and still enjoyed the trip once I was hanging back on top.

Same here, can't wait to hike in the Gorge and meet everyone

    See ya in the Gorge
