Hey Shug, or any others who could answer this question...

When you use whoopie slings, how do you get the non-structural ridgeline hanging above your hammock?
The line to hang a bag, headlamp, or carabiner items onto it.
How do you fasten it to your hammock/whoopie sling/etc. and how do you keep it from sagging each time you put it up in a different location?

Edit: I guess this should go in the other forum, but I know Shug has one and I've seen him around her fairly often.

There is a relationship between the ridgeline and the suspension lines -- how high you attach, how far apart, etc.

When I started with the Hennessy, I didn't know about the 30° suggestion and just pulled the suspension as tight as possible trying to achieve a near-horizontal set-up. This kept the ridgeline taut, but isn't a good idea for the suspension.

I think to get a taut ridgeline you need to pull the suspension a little tighter.

I guess I could just tie it permanently to one end and tie a truckers hitch to the other each side

Tie a Bight Knot on one end ... slip that over whoopie or whatever comes off your hammock end...... go to other end .... tie an over-under knot or some easy to untie type and start playing with length for the perfect sag/hang for you.
