Interesting. Considering how much bunching there has to be (arc length of a 16" deep parabola over a span of 52" is 63", has to jam into a 36" width) I would have guessed that grosgrain was too stiff.
Can't get anything by the Grizz. You are right. I did use something else to edge it with. It came on a roll just like the grosgrain I use. I will check to get the exact description next time I am at the big chain sewing store that gear builders don't admit to going to.

So are the Bridge Hammocks more comfortable than a gathered end hammock? As for Underquilts, on a Bridge Hammock it is just rectangular basicly? Does the fabric on a Bridge stretch like on a gathered end?

So are the Bridge Hammocks more comfortable than a gathered end hammock?
I would not say more comfortable, just a little more like your bed at home. I have to use a pillow in the bridge but do not have to in a gathered end style hammock.

As for Underquilts, on a Bridge Hammock it is just rectangular basicly?
UQ are easier to use on a bridge. This is the reason I made the bridge for 2sticks. Pads and UQ's are very easy to keep in place.

One thing I have learned is that your UQ can actually be too big making it harder to seal to the center part of the bridge. The bridge is shaped like an hour glass and a big rectangular quilt seals on the ends but may leave a gap in the center on each side of hammock. I have a couple trapezoid 2/3 quilts that work best for me.

Does the fabric on a Bridge stretch like on a gathered end?
Yes, but since there is a lot less fabric you don't notice it as much. My DIY bridge is made from a polyester ripstop that has less stretch.

Thanks for the info, it is very helpful. On the underquilts, could you put several small loops along the sides of the bridge hammock and corresponding buttons (or diamond knots) on the underwuilts to keep it snug?

The majority of the UQ's will not need anything. The bridge has a very uniform shape tha makes the quilts easy to seal. Depending on the quilt/diy hammock combo you might need to add one extra tie point in the center on each side to pull the quilt in. With the JRB bridge I don't think you would need anything added

I'm always listening from the edge of my seat when your posts are involved. I keep waiting for some new equation that will finally snap what few nerve endings are left in my simple brain.

I've got a spot all cleaned-out in the gear room. I'm even thinking about taking it on my first snowy trip this year. That's quite an honor among my gear room residents.

    Great video-Great innovations

You're DIY kit shows some really great thinking and excellent looking results! You have advanced the bridge design in a big way, making it even more available to our community. The three top things that impress me:

    1. Your endcap solution- easier construction, more "give" to the fabric.
    2. Your bugnet solution- easily retractable, no zippers or velcro.
    3. Your dual insulated UQ-combines the different lofting tendancies of down and synthetic, and utilizes them in the places that would bring the most benefit.

I'm surprized I haven't heard a bigger comotion about all three of these innovations.

HANGNOUT has advanced the art of bridge hammocks three GIANT STEPS for hammock-kind! My sincere congratulations! Thank-you Hangnout!
