    Potomac or Nest UQ

    Hello everyone,

I know there is another forum for UQ's but I wanted to here specifically from other HH users.

I am considering either the Potomac of the Nest UQ. I like that the Nest utilizes the bottom entry but I like the Potomac as well. If they were priced the same which would you use? I am expecting 40 degree weather so I think either will work well.

Does anyone know of other UQ's besides the SS or Nest that utilizes the bottom entry?

    Thanks in advance.

The Potomac works great on the HH. I have used it with my bottom entry. I now use it on my Traveler hammock .

Honestly, just about any underquilt will work with the bottom entry; just push it aside and climb in. The UQ will pop right back in place.

Either of those quilts is a good choice. I'm partial to down, but am finding more and more uses for synthetic quilts. I only had synthetic quilts when I lived in Florida and never had a problem. Good luck with your decision.

down will last longer then synthetic, kaq makes a synthetic version of the nest
they both have pros and cons down is lighter and compresses, syn can get wet and is cheeper. there is more but that is the basic ones
imo there both great just choose one for your needs.

There's always the option of a 2/3 or 3/4 UQ as well, making bottom entry easy as well. I use the 3 season Lost River from AHE and love it. Have yet to experience "cold feet syndrome" that some experience with a 2/3 UQ.

I can't speak to the Nest, I only have a Potomac. The complete, full coverage of the Potomac is pure bliss. It may not be the same kind of bliss as "downy goodness", but it's hard to beat if you don't want deal with quilt slippage.

I have a Potomac underquilt for my HH. It does has complete coverage and is my favorite synthetic underquilt. Order it with some extra synthetic insulation and you will easily stay warm down to the teens. Its asymmetrical design always reminds me of a larger version of the Warbonnet Yeti underquilt. That is why the Potomac fits perfectly and naturally on to the Warbonnet Traveler. It is almost like that the shape of the Traveler Hammock and the asymmetrical shape of the Potomac Underquilt were made for each other. If Brandon were to make a full sized Yeti it would probably have the same measurements of the Potomac underquilt. Check out ArrowHead Equipment ( Home of Kick *** Quilts ).... They can add extra insulation into your underquilt. You should be able to take it down to the teens or twenties. The Potomac Underquilt is the best.
