less then that...it more like a 100 yards off the road...it's very close to the road...but we will be down the trail some ...goto the shelter and make a left and walk back...there are campsites...i'll try to set up at the last one ..or close to it

I wish I got my hammock when I was supposed to, I'd love to go out for a huge hang. You guys will have to let me know when you're planning for another one. I will be there for the next one with friends in tow

I supposed this just gives me a reason to get more winter gear.

Sounds like we have at least a handful of folks up for a Dec hang. I posted a new thread so as not to totally hijack this one

And I was almost packed up ready to go.

If no one is going to 501, then I'll head up to the Leroy Smith Shelter, near Wind Gap, PA. The tent camping site has a lot of trees good for hanging. I'm a Shelter Watcher at Leroy.

Anyone is welcome to come and hang.

I already got it. It was the most pain in the butt process but it's finally here. It wasn't too bad though because I got to research more about winter camping so I'll actually be prepared when I go out.

It's a shame that this hang was canceled...I was looking forward to hearing about it. Someone needs to find their inner Shug and document it properly

    Hey Crash,
I was planning on going. Leroy Smith Shelter is even closer to home.

Last chance for 501 - is anyone going? If so, please speak up by 10:00 AM tomorrow (Saturday the 27th) or I will join Crash.

Crash, how far is it in to the shelter? And where is the trailhead? The directions from the AT Shelter site take you to an unnamed road off Clearfield Road and Old Grad Road and then stops halfway down the road with no sign of a shelter. Do you have better directions?
