The camp chair I bring on my river trips doesn't have a cup holder, so I started using these mesh cup holders from Down River Equipment. They are made of heavy duty mesh with velcro straps, so you can strap them anywhere (chair arm, raft frame, etc). When I started hammock hanging on the river this summer I found that they worked great on my ridgeline. I have two, and I can slide them up and down the line where I want them. One holds a water bottle, the other holds my headlamp/I-pod/etc. I love having multi-purpose gear.

You just made me think of another one...

I tie my sunglass ends together (forming a triangle) with it's leash. Slip my iPhone sideways into the triangle (fits like a glove!) and then loop the leash onto the ridgleline. Adjust the slack so it's 10-inches or so from your face and you get movies in a hammock! Dual use monitor stand!

I made a little pocket out of a tyvek mailing envelope to hold ear plugs. The pocket is attached to the ridgeline so I always have earplugs, if I need them.

Oooohhhh, I like those LED lights!

I have been using the little Princeton-Tec LED lights mated to mitten hooks for clipping to ridgelines, but those are simpler and more adjustable.

A week seldom goes past where I don't pick up at least one good idea from HF! Love this place.

I clip my psp case to mine, keeps it out of the way and handy when I want to watch movies or play games.

Did you tie a mesh net or something to hang it? Otherwise, I'm not sure what you would have tied to on the iPod Touch since it's so smooth. Interested to try this.

I hang a krill light from the end of the ridgeline...I first did it as a nightlight for my son when hammock-camping, but have since used it as a means to find my way back to my hammock from campfire, cathole, car, or what-have-you without having to use my headlamp and ruin my night vision...

The trick is remembering to turn it off before going to bed...Saturday night I was camping with friends on Valcour Island, and got all snugged in for the night before noticing the glow from behind my head...

I am also working on a pulley system

that will have a belt to be driven by a small electric motor. I will put little tufts of cotton balls on it, and make believe they are bunnies chasing around a track.

Disclaimer: This will only elicit chuckles from those over 50 who went to the dentist!
