Nice job on the tarp... Get it waterproofed with the DIY stuff and you'll be set for some heavy weather, don't forget to seam seal the ridge seam... Try prematex windsheild flowable silicone...

Well, I went to Gettysburg this weekend with the scouts. My DIY Tar and Hammock were just fine. I even had a scout in a hammock this weekend, his set up is under the cheap blue tarp. The only problem I have now, is I don't have a top quilt, or an under quilt, so I was cold when the temps dropped to about 40F Friday and Saturday night. I actually tried to use my DIY hammock as a pseudo underquilt, placing my uniform in there at night, plus a fleece throw, which later I pulled on top of my bag. But I was comfortable otherwise. There was no rain, thankfully, so I didn't get to see how waterproof, or not, my tarp was. I am going to mix up a batch of DIY sil, and waterproof it before our November trip. But I think I'll make a TQ and an UQ first!
That's my son and I at the business end of the cannon!
