    Hello from Central NY

Hi all, I've been lurking here since fall of '08 and decided it was time to come out of the shadows. I started canoe camping a lot later in life than I wish I would have and figured out after my first night out that tent camping was not for me. After stumbling upon this site I've become somewhat hammock obsessed and have amassed quite a collection, much to my wife's dismay. Thanks to all of you who make this such a wonderful resource and a great place to hang out!

Welcome to the forum! I'm pretty darned new to hanging, and so look forward to hearing about your experiences. We've got a great group of people here (as I'm sure you already know)--I'm sure you'll fit right in!
You're gonna need a bigger hammock

Hey Red Hat. Welcome. I hope to see more of your posts of trips and experience.

I hang out up to Good Luck Lake in the Adirondaks quite a bit and hope to see you there or your favorite hang out.

There seems to be more NY hangers and its lookin like there might be more hangs next year.

    Welcome Redhat.

Like veto, I spend quite a bit of time in the Adks. Look for a group hang next year. with the large group of NY'ers here, I am sure it will happen more frequently.

Welcome to HF from the Adirondacks!

I live in Lake Clear, and go camping with a group of friends every month...we love having new people join us!

I'm meeting the guys today at the boatlaunch to paddle out on Lake Champlain to Valcour Island for the weekend...yup, the weather is gonna stink, but we still go out...

Maybe you (and some of the other NY Hammock-campers) can join us for our November hang, or some other future trip!

I'm from central pa, been to adks many times, would be interested in a hang there some time. My buddy went to Paul smiths and I love it there.

Howdy from Central NY to Central NY!

I hang every couple of weekends in one of the state forest in the Chenango or Madison counties, mostly the Brookfield Forest System and Stoneypond, but I also make it up for ZS events in the ADK with NFA and the crew.

A Hammock Forums NY hang is a definite must do ASAP!

Welcome from the Gulf Coast. My father and grandfather built a camp on Blue Mountain lake which they sold 60 years ago. The man who bought it from them passed away only 2 years ago, and we had been welcome at the camp during his lifetime. Though I have only been up there a handful of times, the Adirondacks had a lifelong influence on my father, which he passed on to me. He and I built a guideboat (which was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan) but I have plans to build another.

Good to have you with us. I can't wait to hear any stories you may have about hammocking and canoeing in the Adirondacks.
