    Zing-It or Lash-It, 1.75 or 2.2

Curious what I should be ordering for a slingle line tarp ridgeline and for guy lines for my tarp. Any help or recommendations???

Or if there are other materials people use. Please let me know. I plan on splicing.

I'd go with the 1.75...just because tarps really do not need that much strength....If I could find a braided mason cord that didn't like to tangle so much I'd use that...

Any of them, dynaglide included will be fine but they are also well overkill of what will functionally work. Cost wise the 1.75 is the best deal so if you are not preferential to one color over another flip a coin. Dynaglide and 2.2 are a bit easier to splice if that is what you want to do with them--say for loops on the ends of your guylines or the like.

Thank you for your input Mr. Gibson. I appreciate it. You think that all of those are overkill though? What would you recommend?

In my limited experience (or because of my limited experience) I found the 2.2 to be way easier to splice.

I picked up one of those 180' spools of 2.2 Lash-It in Grey, I like being a little more stealthy, and I wanted to splice a bunch of soft-shackle prusiks.

So far it's been fantastic. makes me also want to get a bright orange 1.7 for guy lines for when I'm not stealthing it and I don't want the grounders to be tripping over me lines.

I don't know how I got along without this stuff...it seriously puts my masons line to shame in performance. But then, masons line is so cheap, when I get tangles I just toss it.

It is great stuff all of it and I sell and use a lot of it, for guy lines and ridge lines I do the 1.75. It will hold prussic's and you can splice it with a bit of effort. But at 450 pound tensile it is a lot---more than is really needed functionally. Though that dose not stop me from using it myself and from selling it, just FYI for what it is worth. I have thought about making myself some guylines from Dynaglide as I like the line, but it is really over kill so it is hard for me to justify it to myself.

How hard is it, or is it even worth it to splice the 1.75mm? I have done a decent amount with 7/64" Amsteel, but not with Lash-it or Zing-It.

I personally don't care to splice the 1.75. Some guys do but to me it is such a PITA that I try to avoid it. 2.2 and dynaglide are a lot easier to splice if you want them spiced. I use knots for 1.75, for nonstructural uses like guy lines it is faster, and more than strong enough for the application. I splice a lot of 2.2 and dyna and if I were wanting spliced guylines I would go with one of them. Dyna is 1.8 but just the way it is woven and the higher stiffness that it has makes it a lot easier to work with than the 1.75 in regards to spicing. Knots hold well in the 1.75 in my opinion.

While I haven't done a side-by-side test, I think the 2.2mm version holds a bit better if you use Figure-9s in your rigging (as I do for the tarp ridgeline).
