    ok, dumb question. i like the eno slapstraps. can just anyone sew that setup or do i need to do something special to get it done in poly?

    You can make a slapstrap of sorts out of the Hennessy line itself. Just tie one half of a fisherman's knot up near the hammock, then feed the end of the hammock line through the knot and finish the fishermans knot, completing a large loop. Then tie figure-eight knots at 6in intervals. This will shorten your hammock line by about 60%, get some more spectra and tie a sling to make up the length.

    velly intellesting. do you have pics? also, what does all that knot tying do to the strength of the hammock line?

    Hey, found some webbing at Wally's world! Except, it doesn't say what it's made of... and it's in a package.
    Doesn't look like nylon, but I'm not gonna chance that.

    Johnny, a double fisherman's knot is nearly a 100% strength knot (that is why fisherman use them for leaders) and the figure-eight has about a 75-80% knot strength ( do not use an overhand knot, it is a lot weaker). Remember, you are doubling most of the rope also.
