    Dual Entry HH?

I was looking at some HH, and I was having an issue of deciding whether I wanted to get the velcro closure, or the zipper closure. I know that both have their benefits, and I decided to go with the velcro closure because I think it will be easier for my 290 pound frame to just sit back into the hammock rather than go over the side. It also looks a lot easier to get out of of course. However, when I was thinking about it, I realized that it would be a lot easier to decide if these hammocks came with both the velcro and zipper closures. I don't know if this was already discussed, but wouldn't it be pretty simple to have both design elements added to the hammocks, or is there some reason that this would not be possible, or would hurt the effectiveness of the hammock somehow?

Get a bottom entry HH of your choice and send it to 2QZQ for a MOD ... Mod4 being my personal favorite and you'll have the best of both worlds IMHO! You won't even be able to tell it's been mod'd ... their work is that good.

Take a look at the posts under the 2QZQ section in the forums ... you'll see a lot of satisified folks there that have posted. I have a video on the second one ever made with a MOD4 ... I had the bottom entry sewn up but that was just me ... if you leave the bottom entry you get the best of both.

But contact them ... you'll be happy with the work. Good folks.

I have the HH Deluxe Explorer with 2QZQ #4mod. It is great! I love the flexibility.

I checked out the videos, and that definately looks like exactly what I am looking for. I also saw that they have a silnylon underquilt protector that is very reasonably priced. I was thinking that that alone might be able to be used similarly to the Hennessy Supershelter as a kind of pocket to hold onto an isulation layer under the hammock like the pad that the Supershelter uses. Any thoughts on that?

Not sure as a supershelter ... I have one and it makes a great splash guard for your underquilt and works as a wind block too ... I string mine kind of loose since I don't want condensation building up in my down UQ. But yeah it's a great piece of kit ... especially if you have a minimal tarp.

I started with a standard Expedition. The bottom entry was interesting, but I soon found it tedious. The hammock was also a tad small. So I went with the larger Explorer and got the side zip model. I do not, in any way regret it, nor miss the bottom entry. I find the side zip much nicer.

Get the HH Deep Jungle XL. Have compared various models and for a big man this is great! Just a super hammock. And if you need the net mod you can get one.

Thanks for all the good ideas. I ordered the HH Explorer Deluxe, and as soon as I get some money saved up it is definitely being sent off to 2qzq for mod #4.
