    Working with fling it

Are the smaller sizes of fling-it splicable? 1.4mm seems crazy small, how hard is it to splice? Should I buy a bigger size if I want to splice loops in the ends? I've been playing with 1.8mm diameter dynaglide and its not as hard to work with as some have made it sound.

There is such a thing as Fling-It. It is an orange hollow braided spectra based cord. From all reports, it is much harder to splice than the dyneema based Zing-It/Lash-It.

i have 1.75mm lashit(grey version of zingit) and it is harder to splice than amsteel 7/64 but it isn't too bad, haven't worked with dynaglide so can't compare sorry.

I had a little harder time with lash-it/zing-it compared to Dynaglide. I found all of them easier than Amsteel. Dynaglide has to be the easiest stuff I've ever worked with.

I had no trouble splicing 1.75mm zing-it using a large needle - my only previous experience had been making a pair of whoopies in 1/8 amsteel blue.

Jeep, It is posssible. You'll need a smaller diameter splicing tool, a good pair of eyes or glasses, and some patience.
But any hollow core braid is spliceable, even some of the fishing line is spliced, with the right tools.
I use the same techniques as normal, and some smaller diameter wire bent over to form my splicing tool.
    Good luck.

Fling-It is nearly impossible to splice. It's made a little differently than Lash-It / Zing-It. Fling-It is pre-stretched, so it's a much tighter weave than the other two, and far more difficult to splice. If you've not purchased the Fling-It yet and plan to splice, avoid it entirely. Either of the other two similar options are fine for splicing. I use either of the smaller two guitar strings bend in half to splice the smaller stuff with (B or E string).

Guitar strings. That is a good idea. I've been using florist wire, but it get brittle and breaks at the bend after a while. Guitar strings would likely be a little more expensive, but would last alot longer.

I just have to wonder if the strings off of my Cello would work for splicing the 1.75mm stuff? I have spliced 2.2mm Dynag;ide using 20 gauge wire and also used some wire made from fishing leader material, both worked great.

I think I will stay with Dynaglide and Lash-it like type lines, and let the fling-it stuff alone. HYOH0

Do you suppose the music produced would be sweeter to the ear?
