    Couple of questions

about the Asym hammock. Mostly the design. Its not really stated in the tutorial in the sticky. In the body of the hammock do you cut the parallelogram before sewing the channel in the end? The bug net is there a special technique aside from hanging the body then just winging then making a pattern for that. I admit I haven't done as much research about the bug net as everything else. but I will still ask for others benefit as well as mine.

Is the sewing together (making a tube) out of the ends more comfortable, or is that what gives the asym lay?

Well there it is thanks ahead for the answers you guys/gals always have some informative ones.

the shape (parallelogram) will come to be by itself when you do the ends and the tie outs.
I think the sewing of the end channels (tubes) is to help hold the material together and also provides a channel for the ridge line to pass through
as for the netting I still have to do mine so I can't really help you there! yet
    hope this helps

There are various meanings for the "asym" hammock. The HH asym the body is rectangular and the bugnet is asym. The Black bird uses rectangular bug net and the footbox makes the body asym. I think there may be a hammock out there that is cut asym but I wouldn't tol that in court. So the answer to your question is a hale and hearty... "_depends_"
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

    Here is some help

    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=156

I have tried this and it does work for a bit flatter lay. I just started with a 12 foot long piece and came down 1 foot on opposite sides on each end to create the shape before hemming and creating the end channel and gather with a cord. You can then attach your suspension with larkshead behind the gather. I personally think that is stronger than using the channel as the actual means supporting the hammock. Those pics of Coffee tell the story. He is a tall guy.
