    Hex tarp pitch options?

My apologies if this has been covered before, but a search of the forums didn't turn up what I was looking for.

I got my first tarp (a used Warbonnet Edge) and got to give it its first use this past weekend at the fall MAHHA hang. I ended up just hanging it in a pretty steep A-frame which worked ok, except for being a tight squeeze.

Are there other pitch options besides the obvious A-frame that work well with a hex tarp this size (126"x94")? About the only other idea I had in mind was to bring my hiking poles next time and try for a porch. I've seen interesting configurations but usually with larger tarps with more tie-outs. The Edge has a center seam with connecting rings each end, and no other tie-outs aside from the four corners.

I'd love some suggestions, pics appreciated - I'm a visual learner when it comes to this kind of stuff

Hey .... my DIY BlackCrow Tarp is pretty much the same size as the Edge. Only thing is that I put some tabs on the edge so as to close off the ends if needed.
    Couple of pitches here.

Thanks Shug! I've seen that tarp in a few videos if I'm not mistaken

I like the clever use of poles, especially that second to last one.

A bit of an old post, but I am making a tarp of roughly the same dimensions as the edge. Can it be set up on the ground if need be, or does the size in combination with the cat cuts prohibit that?

I have the oes deluxe, which is a bit bigger than the edge, I think.

Here are some ground set up pics.

Thanks! That is exactly what I'm looking for. I dunno if it will work quite as well with the smaller edge tarp, though. I'll have to try things out when I get it done.

    Hex tarp pitch

    Shug,
What are those sock looking things on the end of the tarp's ridgeline? What are they used for?

    Thanks

@trailtoa I'm not Shug, but I assume they are snake skins for the tarp.

    http://www.theplacewithnoname.com/hi...r/hhsnakes.htm and http://hikinghq.net/hammock/hammock6.html

Originally Hennessy invented them for hammock + tarp, now folk seem to use the skins more for tarps. Due to patent issues, Hennessy is the only manufacturer that sells them, but they're simple to whip up, if you have no sewing skills they're easy to learn on or not too much trouble to ask a sewer to whip some up for you.
