Hello to everyone!
I am a student at Ole Miss majoring in Biology. I've always been an outdoor kind of person. I feel more comfortable and at home when I'm outside especially on a cold dreary day. I guess you could say my hammock story began several years ago when I was walking through an Army surplus store in Springfield, Missouri. I notice a surplus jungle hammock hanging from the ceiling and just knew I had to have one. I purchased one for about $35 I believe it was. I took it home, set it up, realized it was nice but needed a little work, put it aside to work on another day, and never touched it again. A year or two ago I decided to get rid of it since I never used it. Recently I started wishing I had never gotten rid of it so I began looking around for another one. At first I was just looking at the same style surplus hammocks on Ebay and then I ran across the Claytor Jungle Hammock. I decided to purchase one and I have since spent one night in it. Let's just say I didn't get much sleep, only because I never do the first night I try to sleep on or in something new, but I have never been more comfortable. It was in the mid 40s and I stayed toasty warm all night thanks to a cheap Wal-mart sleeping pad and sleeping bag. I have made several modifications to my hammock so far but I will be making several more as soon as I get the funding. I want to get an UQ, maybe a TQ, a weather shield, another tarp (something better for winter), and a better suspension system. I'm a broke college student so we'll see how that goes but I'm sure I'll make it happen. Anyway, it's been really fun reading some of the threads here and I look forward to my new passion and hopefully meeting some new people. Thanks!
