I'm thinking about a weekend trip (Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday) on the SHT for the weekend of November 5-7 or 6-8, 2010. Much of the SHT will be closed (south of Crosby-Manitou State Park) because of gun hunting deer season, but the northern parts of the trail should be mostly available (except for parts around Magney State Park and Kadunce River).
Broadly speaking, I envision driving up from the Twin Cities (about 4 1/2 to 5 hours) and hiking a "short" day on Day 1 (2-3 hours). Day 2 would be a longer day (9-12 miles). Day 3 will be back to the car and on the road around mid-day. Specific trail segment(s) to be determined based on who wants to go.
Weather, of course, is a huge variable. Rain would be miserable (30's and wet...ick!), but some snow would be "doable".
Post here and/or send me a PM if you're interested.
