Has anyone tried using this stand at the beach? About to head out for an overnighter with our scouts and I just hate sleeping on the ground, even if it is sand. My only concern is if the rebar will get enough grip to anchor the stand. We will be in Corpus.

I use a carabiner and a large Figure 9 to tighten everything up.
The figure nine is being used as another carabiner to create the truckers hitch; the working end just loops through the carabiner. Once it is tightened I use the other part of the figures nine to lock it down.

Hey Rat,
Did your ever make a specific tarp for this stand or do you continue to use just what you have on hand to protect you from the rain?
We just usually just place various tarps up and have them overlap one another.
Does anyone still use this stand? Could a person use Alamosa's stake booms instead of the 3 feet of rebar for the stakes?
