    Hammocking on Ol' Ironsides!!!

    Hello all,

recently I had the pleasure of touring the oldest commissioned ship in the United States navy. any servicemen past or present reading, first and foremost we all appreciate your service in a big way, a sincere thank you from me.

in any case, the ship is awesome to say the least. the quality and craftmanship put into a a ship of this caliber is top notch! and also they used to sleep in hammocks. so i took some pictures (i apologize, they're from a cell phone) and here they are... i have plenty more but since i'm at work on a break, unless you guys want to see more i think this will do.

I was on the Old Ironsides tour myself just a couple of months ago. A very impressive ship for its time, and a rich history. I too was interested in the hammocks down below, and I also found it incredible the amount of seamen they were actually able to fit down there due to the use of the hammocks.

Thanks for the photos--interesting to see how they hung their hammocks back then. Nice hoodie, btw...;-)

Were you ever stationed in Groton? I grew up in Montville and my mother worked at Electric Boat. You don't get many people from that area lol.

Stationed there for a few years of training/schooling. Boats I was on were in based out of South Carolina & California. I spent allot of time at the Submarine Base in New London-Groton.
