    Toggle Befuddled!!

I recently purchased a used WBSF and it has a RL with a toggle on both ends. The one end has a toggle and prussik with a bead which makes sense to me.

Now the toggle boggle; the other RL end has a toggle with the line weaving through two holes in the toggle, a prussik, and the end of the line also has a fixed looped end.

So, can someone clue me in to how this end is suppose to be attached around the tree. I can make it work, but I know it isn't set-up effectively.

Seems like it's pretty effective the way you've got it set up. I don't have that style of getup, so I can't say for sure, but it appears to be working well.

One thought would be to use the eye on the end and the prussik to attach the RL to the tree, and the toggle through the tieout on the tarp.

It reminds me of the "old" RL tarp suspension from Opie. There were 2 "offset" toggles that were prussiked to the RL and went through the tarp d-rings. The centered "toggle" was used at the fixed end. The adjustable end of the RL was usually handled by a figure-9 prussiked to the main RL.

I don't know if that helps. It seems to me that you're missing some pieces/parts.

You got it Beep, it seems to be the original whoopieslings.com continuous ridgeline setup.

I had a version of that when I first got started. Here are a couple of shots of it in use on the tarp that I had at the time.

I hope this helps the original poster.

Thanks to all for the info. Being a knot guy, I was stumped with the best way of using this "high tech toggle". I think the best way for me , is to detoggle this end.

FWIW, I replaced the offset toggles on my RL suspension with #1 S-biners. While the offset toggles worked OK, if they were de-tensioned (say by moving the prusik knot), they had a tendency to come "loose" from the D-rings. With the S-biners, there is no risk of losing connection
