Is there anything to be said for making a hammock out of dynaglide or zing-it/lash-it. I think the hammock would probably be lighter than a fabric version, hard to say. Without the ring of course.

Hmmm I was just making up some math for this...
If we compare 1.1 oz ripstop and dynaglide....
dynaglide is about 2 g/m right.... that's .6096 g/ft
If we compare it to say a 1 ft by 9 ft strip of ripstop... which would weigh about 31.2 g
9 feet of dynaglide would weigh roughly 5.48 g so about 5.7 strands of dynaglide would weigh the same as a 1 ft wide stip of ripstop.
Thats roughly 1 strand every 2 inches (assuming they were all straight lines along the length of the hammock)
Given that they would zig zag for the braid you would use much more line that a straight line. So if you are still trying to keep that weight down, your effective strands per foot drops even more, making the spacing between the lines even larger. Not sure how comfy it would end up being.
But the rope in your average braided hammock probably has a break strength much less than 1000 lbs. maybe zing it/ lash it would be more reasonable.
Either way, it would be really cool to see someone make one and share some pictures
oh and sorry if I could not convey how much sense this information made in my head into a useful post lol
Are you sure thats a hammock? It looks like a Macramé body sling, in that color I would call it a Banana Macramé body sling. Not to be confused with a "banana hammock" of course!
If you made a hammock out of dyneema fishing braid, you would probably break the weight records, and have mesh fine enough to be comfy.
1000m metres of 6kg line with 1cm knots should do it. Do you have the patience though Ike?
I'd love to see one made.

I have unlimited patience.
Would be a nightmare to tie all those little knots evenly so none of them are randomly uneven and poking up into you. Would probably give weight savings with a light enough line but would be a massive time sink. Ends up being which is worth more days/weeks of time vs maybe half a pound (as light as some of the other options are highly doubt you could gain more than that and it not break under weight.
