OK I have slings and triglides and clinch buckles and niteeyes biners and all this other cool stuff, but I sure miss tying just knots. I know all this stuff is suppose to make hanging quicker but I love tying knots and I am forgetting how with all these new fast tricks. Anybody miss just knots?
i like tying knots too, i still like my tri plates (no backup to tie), but i still tie knots for so many things.
the slipped butline or slipped sheetebnd are both good suspension hanging knots for tying rope to tree strap

I still only use knots. I do it because I feel like it is less to keep up with. I only know about 7 or 8, but I know them well and have used them satisfy all my hanging requirements to date.
I really like tying knots as well. It runs in my family.

Are fine way to guy out a tarp. I got a 4 pack of them with I think 8' Pre-cut reflective line for $10.00. Very nice for "trip prevention" in close quarter campsites, Scouts....

Knots are just so cool! For that reason I opt for the marlinspike hitch, and even that feels like I'm cheating because it's just so quick and easy. Where are all the opportunities for character building? (I'm starting to sound like my grandfather, "Hammocks?!? Why, if we wanted to be 'comfy' out in the woods, we'd tie up our wrists and ankles, have a buddy string us between two trees, woke up freezing with dislocated shoulders and hips, and were thankful to have been fortunate enough to afford the rope!").Anybody miss just knots?
Still, there is a special satisfaction in enjoying a campsite while all your buddies are still pitching their tents (they can build enough character for the both of us).

I use knots. Always have, always will. I don't trust my weight to a bury or the thin strip of steel that bears weight in a triglide. Yes, I know that knots reduce the working weight capacity of rope, but there are fewer things to go wrong with knots (buries can slip/loosen the braid of amsteel, triglides can break, etc.). Plus, knots are more fun
