So we decided to get into hanging... I've got a hammock, tarp, and UQ ordered. I was going to wait to order the wife's kit, but thanks to Optimator I didn't have to wait long. I bought his 1.0DL BB and Leigh's 3S UQ (thanks!). He mailed it from Oregon Monday, and it was on my porch in Texas mid-day today (who says the post office can't get it done?).
Pamela wasn't home, but I didn't wait. The BB is a work of art. If Optimator used it, you can't tell. Looks brand new. I quickly took off the webbing suspension, attached some whoopies (silver at the head and green at the foot), and got the thing hung. I'm about 225# which is near the limit for the 1.0 DL, but I got in it anyway. It took two adjustments to get it comfortable.
Then I figured out how to attach the UQ (with the triangle thingies). Let me tell you, a 3S UQ is not necessary when it's 80 degrees outside. It didn't take long to get HOT.
Pam will be using the Noah's Tarp 12 that we have for now, but I'm sure a Big Mamajamba (sil or spinn?) is in her future. I want her pack as light as possible so she will enjoy the trail. Now, just need my kit and a free weekend...
