ordered a Warbonnet, too much for me?

I first ordered a WBBB, single 1.1, then I changed my order to a double 1.0, as I can't afford an underquilt for a while, and want the option of using pads. Now I worry that it's too much, to big for me, as I just got done reducing the size of my on the ground equipment. I am 5'2", 108 lbs. I have been carrying around the extra weight of sleeping bags that are too long, tents that are bigger than need be ( even the sublite is too long) etc. Am I just doing the same thing now in my new hammock venture? Are Warbonnets really meant for bigger folk? Is a double just overkill for me?

Not if you want to put a pad in it! The double is a 2 layer hammock that is the same size as the single layer and not a double-wide hammock. You put your pad
in between the layers so it stays put (otherwise you'll chase your pad around a single layer hammock all night). Also I've never heard anyone complain about a too big hammock (at least not while lying in it ). But, to small can be unusable.

you'd be fine with a single layer - though i do feel the dl does make it easier for pads.
that said though- the beauty of the warbonnet is the footbox, which i've found keeps the pad in place
even when its not between the layers.

i've struggled with traveler-style single layer hammocks and pads- the thing always slides out the asym footend.

like beast71 said- hammock won't be too big- but will be heavier.

For pads the double layer is perfect it will keep the pad in place. As Beast said it is not a bigger hammock just a double layered hammock.

    big Hammock,

Allright, there were 2 separate issues. One was the single layer versus the double, and yes, weight is an issue. I realize the double refers to the layers and not the size. The other issue was the " generous size" of the WBBB, irregardless of how many layers. A lot of big folk like the big roomy size, is that the overkill for me? Also, to be able to effectively use the footbox, will I have to scoot way down in the hammock?
Would one of the "other" hammocks that are smaller make more sense for me? I am trying to get out of the overkill/ everything is just made too big for me thing. But I do want to be comfortable.
Shug is 70 lbs heavier and uses a single and he prefers it even whn using pads...
Will Warbonnetguy get annoyed if I switch again to a single layer? Hasn't shipped yet.

You'd be fine either way. My daughter has a 1.0dbl and she is under 100lbs.

The double layer keeps the pad from moving around too much. Just my 2 cents

Brandon won't get mad. He's a good guy to deal with. Go with what you will be using regularly in the future.

At 5'2" you won't reach the footbox. Not that it really matters, but it sounds like you might be bothered by the extra material. (Bothered enough to get the traveler instead?) The WBBB is big -- you'll feel like you're swimming the first time you get in -- but that's also part of why it's so comfortable.

On the pad issue, I have the double layer and I've tried sleeping with a pad both ways. It's true that having it between the layers holds it still somewhat better, but if I were 108 lbs and moderately concerned with weight I'd probably go for the single layer. (Plus you're going to ditch that pad for an UQ sooner than you think anyway.)

    maybe the traveller

Maybe the traveller is a better choice for me. If I can't use the footbox, why carry around the extra fabric? amybe a single 1.1 is better, since I will get an underquilt at somr point. Any other good things about the traveller you can tell me?
