    Bobbin blow out

It has been 20 years since I have sewn,
but I have sewn lots . . . with a new singer hand crank machine I bought 28 years ago.
It is gone now, and my wife came with a Singer Merritt 3015,
it is all tuned up and ready to go . . .

    . . . So I am about to start my 7yr old daughters PINK hammock . . .

loading the bobbin with clear nylon thread
and the plastic bobbin blows the end off, just before it is fully loaded.

    Ticked . . . yes

so I get out a solid steel bobbin and start loading . . .

. . . what do you know, the steel bobbin blows the end off.

    Old junk I guess

You filled it too full. Clear nylon thread is a very obnoxious commodity. It stretches extensively. That would allow too much thread on the bobbin. Get some normal thread and try winding a bobbin.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

Skip that nylon thread, it is fussy.
Find yourself some good polyester thread.
You'll be happier in the long run.

I've used Gutterman's 100% polyester thread for everything. Get the "normal" stuff and avoid the heavy duty thread...

I've even used the same thread for sewing up straps... Everything has held together perfectly...
