    Thread Injector

I think somebody should make a t shirt that says something like, "Hammocking. Turning tough men into seamstresses daily" or something like that. I love it though. I never thought I would have ever wanted a sewing machine so bad. I have so many things I want to make. I'll get there one day. Do you guys have any suggestions for an entry level injector that won't break the bank or break itself? I don't really want to get the beginner machine from Walmart because I heard they have plastic gears and just don't really hold up.

Hi Jim - some good info on used injectors at:
    sewingmachinesteve.com

my choice was for an all-metal Necchi BU Nova, made in Italy in the mid 50's - $40 on craigslist. ebay is another popular resource. Also sewing machine repair shops often have used machines for sale that have been serviced. I had mine cleaned and lubed and now it's going great. good luck and I hope you find what you're looking for. Oh, and that's . . . seamsters.

Thanks Sky! I've looked around on Ebay and Craigslist some but haven't found anything quite yet. I also have my grandmother looking for me. She sewed for a living for like 15 years or so so I figured she would definitely know what to look for. She also goes to auctions and yard sales weekly so hopefully she'll find something. I just wanted some suggestions for my own search.

I definitely going for the more feminine "seamstresses."

I actually found a machine at Goodwill for $35 the other day but it was the bottom of the line model that I'm kind of shying away from plus it was all pink so I figured I would pass. At least for now anyway.

Read my guideline post in my sig. It might be helpful.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

Thanks Ramblinrev! I'm actually doing that right now. I saw your link in your signature line while I was on Bradley's "Bobbin Blow Out" thread.

You will see a new post of how much fun you can have making your own gear and running a manly thread injector!!!!!!! I borrowed one from my mother the other day and started working with it, signifigant other was showing me things as well........... Last night my mother came over to have dinner and asked : 'Where did you get 'that' sewing machine?" My reply was it's the one you gave me!!!!! As of 7:00 pm this evening, we, completed the first of many quilts and other DIY projects to come.

Good luck in the search and be prepared for a little learning curve frustration!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Bigbamaguy! I have sewed before but it's been forever so I'm sure I'm a little rusty. I'm gonna watch Rev's video series. That should help quite a bit. I already learned about thread tension. I didn't know anything about that before. Thanks Rev!
