    Looking for suggestions.

    Hello All:
I'm relatively new to hanging. I started out with an old jungle hammock for a "2 nighter" in the trees, and saw this as the way to go (over a tent or a tarp)

SO, I've just acquired a Grand Trunk "skeeter beeter" hammock. I am less than thrilled with the "S" hook idea of suspension that was included with the purchase. I also would like to install a permanent ridge line that (from what I understand) will help to maintain getting the "right spread" when ever / where ever I hang the hammock.

So what I'm looking for is the most direct (and lightest) way of getting the hammock up easily and correctly with the least amount of "stuff" being involved.

I have come to see the need to get some fairly wide nylon straps to go around the trees...but if I may, I'll avail myself of your collective experience to go from there...

    Suggestions?

    Thanks,
    SoloBear.

Most direct would by far be a webbing suspension. You can get the webbing, cinch plates, and amsteel (for connecting the cinch plates to the hammock) from Arrowhead Equipment.
The lightest (while still being relatively simple), would probably be tree huggers and whoopie slings. You can make those yourself, or get them from whoopieslings.com, or from Paul at Arrowhead as well.
For your ridgeline, you could use amsteel if you have it, or you could get some Zing-It from whoever you get your other supplies from.
Hope that makes sense and starts ya on your way.

Hey, just noticed your location, I'm over in Radford.
It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I second the Arrowhead Equipment webbing suspension system the Acer describes. It is what I have on all of my hammocks!!!!!!

Same here except I made the whoopie slings. Not too hard to do and they do work. I ordered the material to make my own straps from Arrowhead but haven't done that yet.
