Smile 1st SNOW in a hammock

I have been trying to get prepared for this day over the last couple of months. I went up the canyon to one of my favorite testing grounds and put the gear to the test. You guys have made this transition a lot faster than I expected. Thanks for the help, I really do appreciate it.

I arrived at the testing grounds in a light snow which was nice because it wasn't rain even though the air temp was 45*. The snow was off and on until about 22:00, then I settled in for the storm. A comfortable hammock and a little light reading was exactly what I had in mind. It was a nice quiet night except the snow sliding off the tarp woke me up a couple times and I was rudely awaken one last time when a barrage of blaze orange ATV riders sent everything within 10 miles running for cover. (What happened to horses or hiking in? anyway...)

I finally got out of the hammock and started my morning tea around 07:30. I really need to figure out how to set things up so I can have my morning tea before I get out of bed. The temps had dropped to a very comfortable 25*. Snowshoeing is going to be a lot more fun this year.

    Thanks again,
    Mic

Your photos and your description have my heart beating fast!

I went out on the deck last night and tried to hammock in 40mph winds and light rain...just because I can.

I can hardly wait to hit the snow!

I just wish I had territory as beautiful as what you have!

Thanks for the comments. If it wasn't opening weekend of the hunt I wouldn't have come home. I really like how quiet everything seems when it snows.

I went to visit a friend of mine in Orange Beach a couple of years ago. He said come down we are having some great weather. It was JULY!!! We were sitting on the porch after dinner and he says "There is kind of a chill in the air." I asked if he had lost his freakin' mind. That humidity really takes it out of you. Spending an entire day chasing reds doesn't hurt either.
