    Final Version!

It was dark when I got home so no pics of it set up, it did hold my 185 lb. self across a 30 ft span...

The postal scale said .4 oz for both(one per side), as light as a single smc ring and you can make it with just two drills, a countersink, and saw... I should have turned the edges off the hex where the support line lays but some quick filing worked just as well

    [IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

In case the pics don't help, the support line goes around the bar, over itself, then tie it off like a sailing cleat

thanks, I was thinking of breaking out the sulfuric acid and batterycharger to do a home anodizing job on it

I've been thinking the same thing. Have you done it before?

My girlfriend was extra "thrilled" when I told her one of the chemicals was what Brad Pitt poured on Edward Norton's hand in "Fight Club".

yeah, pretty easy, this is the site that I based most of my guess work off of... I used RIT dye that I had gotten at the grocery to get stuff black

I saw that one, too. I'll try to find the link to this British guy's site which had instructions for doing it from scratch with the chemicals only, not a kit. I think I priced it to under $100 for enough to do a bunch.

And a visit from Homeland Security.

Anodizing is not that hard, but it may take a few attempts to get what you want.

I've run a few hundred pieces in my "home" anodizing system doing Type III mil spec hardcoat (this requires chilling which makes it harder to do and tougher too!)

UAP NAPA stores sell sulfuric acid in "cubes" for filling batteries... Check out the forums at www.caswellplating.com for lots of insight into how to.
