Completed my mukluks today. They turned out well, in spite of a few flaws. Most toasty, and lightweight!

Took a romp with them on the mil-surplus snowshoes this morning. You can't see it in the picture, but the mukluks have white mule tape bindings, and the snowshoes have white grosgrain bindings.

If I can find me some more of the trim that I used on the Anorak, I'll be all set!

Very impressive! How fun to have this completed before the
FBH. I was thinking about making something similar myself
From the army duck cotton tarp at Home Depot used as paint drop
Cloths, but don't have the time. I Plan to wear my wool Swandri bush jacket
It's cut in a similar way and large enough to layers below.

You look great Macnuk of soon to be North.
    Great stuff.
You not only have the outfit but you throw in the snow for added effect.

Took two snowshoe walks today in deep unbroken snow.....one on my MSR Denalis and one on my old traditional wooden snowshoes.
The MSRs do not float as well in powder but are very agile and have terrific grip on uphills and downs and on the traverse.
The Traditional float like a butterfly!!!! Truly walking on top of snow..... take less effort on the powder. Not as agile in the tight backwood turns as the MSR....... slide on ups and downs.
Each has their strengths and weaknesses. In a perfect world I would carry both!!!

Could be fun, I could bring a tent with a wood stove for a backup. Depends on where it is etc.

    Hey Mac
Between your mukluks and anorak, the first thing that came to my mind was...
Hey Nanook of the north is going out to play

    Good job on the gear

For your late night winter enjoyment
    Nanook of the North

    http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/nanook-of-the-north/

Documents one year in the life of Nanook, an Eskimo (Inuit) and his family.

Describes the trading, hunting, fishing and migrations of a group barely touched by industrial technology.

That was my goal! Not only did I complete them, but I got to try everything in the snow before the FBH! Snow is somewhat rare here... and not very deep.

Thank you, Don! (No package has arrived yet!)

I got to try mine in, er, unbroken snow! (Only six inches deep, though! )

I think we have two in the group! Bring it! I have always wanted one...

Thanks! I could find no more of the trim that I used on the Anorak, so I added 2" leather frill below the leather drawstring channel.

I had no idea that Nanook of the North was the world's first documentary! Thanks! I'll watch that...

All I did was copy the gear described in The Snow Walker's Companion. Now I'm working on a Boreal Shirt in wool felt.

I'm working Thursday night, I'll go home and nap for a couple hours, then start driving to Hinkley. I'll be there a little early so I can chow some some breakfast before we hit the road, then hit the trail.

I should be good and tired by the time I hit the sack!

Someone might want to put together a phone/contact list for the "for sure" people so we can ping anyone/everyone if they are late or if there are any worries. Beep?
