FourDog, that PeaPod was a good find!
What are you going to use with it?

Thanks ! I'll be using it with one of three cold weather shelter, sleep systems I'll have set up at the Frozen-butt .
I have two friends coming that have never slept in hammocks before, so two will be for them and one for me.
Also they will be three different concepts all using a "peapod" type system.
For all to see and give feed back on. I've been using a "peapod" type system
since 2003 in different forms and to me it is my go to system for hammocks by far.
Looking forward to meeting you and feed back on the systems !

Love the photos of the winter wonderland. Hope the auroras are good.
I suspect I would prefer to enjoy it along with occasional visits to a toasty cabin, tho. ;D
Someone asked what we are bringing to test in the cold up north...
I will be testing these things:
Clothing list straight out of the Snow Walker's Companion... wool watch cap, 3 wool shirts, wool long johns, wool pants, DIY canvas anorak, DIY leather and canvas mukluks w/ wool felt liners. (My balaclava is synthetic.) I might add canvas wind chaps.

You will be good and warm! Just keep active in camp. Even small chores help keep the blood flowing.
I used to use traditional snowshoes but went to modern. I like the crampons and grip but I always tend to head for hills and slopes!!!!! If I am just taking an easy walk trads do fine. Terrific float.
I like my MSR snowshoes that I got last Christmas and will explore them more this year.
Snowshoe your own snowshoe!

I edited the hammock insulation... left out one item!
Shug, my Chicagoland brother told me emphatically to get modern bindings... I figure I'll try traditional first. From what I've seen, I cannot afford to buy traditional!Hammock insulation: Speer IIIA inside a Snugfit, inside a PeaPod, inside a MMG IX Hammock Sock
