    Blue Ridge Camping Hammock

We had one of our boy scouts get a Blue Ridge Camping Hammock as a gift recently. I had not heard of them so I went to the web and looked it up (www.lawsonhammock.com). It looks pretty neat but kind of heavy. I was just wondering if anyone has seen or used one of these. I am not getting one but just wanted to know the good / bad / ulgy related to these hammock tents. Any input is apprecieated.

    Thanks,
    Chris

I have had one for 20 years or so.
They are heavy but I used to carry mine. you do a bit of a banana lay but he is young and has good knees so it will get him started.
The tarp thing was way small and useless but I knew no better.
He will have fun with it.

    Thanks Shug,
With the poles in this setup he could use it as a hammock or a ground tent if needed. I will have to check it out the next time he comes camping with us.

I see what you mean about the tarp. It looks like it is just pulled over the hammock like a regular tent and tarp would be set up.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Looks like it could be a good option, just use a tarp anyone would put over any other hammock instead of the one provided, or heck use both!
