    Thumbs up Hammock sock kudos

Received my "discount" hammock sock I purchased from Jeff. For the $10.00 purchase price and about $5.00 for modifications, I believe this may become the most versatile piece of gear in my kit. After modification to include a zipper for the head end portion (which make it a little more like his "travel pod") I tried it out for a nap this afternoon. 37 Degrees and breezy. With my synthetic peapod(witch is only good to 50 Degrees or so) and the sock I was very comfortable. All DIY's should try one of these. And Jeff and Risk should market them. Already thinking about a more advanced version if I can find a longer zipper.

Enjoy the sock order thief? huh, huh? come on, your consensus knows I requested it first. j/k

it is actually a good thing I dont have that sock. being a little sick now, it would be bad for me to sleep outside, and im very bad at resisting hammocks.

also, it will let my play around with lighter, expensive fabrics, like momentum90.

try the $10 fleece sleeping bags made by Coleman. you get a ~110" zipper, and a big square of fleece to play around with.

haha, nah, i dont golf (not in public anyway). I am trying to get unique fabrics, hopefully it will work out:

    1.7 oz polyester Epic, 1.1 oz silnylon/dwr, momentum90

if the epic for hammock doesnt work, i will want to try momentum90 (if it works)

    Hammock socks ROCK!!

If you have a hammock, you should have a hammock sock.

I used mine last night, temp got to 30, with the set up I have (witout the sock) I can go to 30 but Im just above being uncomfortable (warm enough, but I think 29 would be too cold), with the sock, I was very comfy, I feel I could go as low as 20, with 18 being too cold. So based on that, a hammock sock adds a good 10 degrees to any set up. My sock only weighs 15 Oz.
When you have a backpack on, no matter where you are, you’re home.
PAIN is INEVITABLE. MISERY is OPTIONAL.

Anybody with a sock ever do any actual temp readings to compare (one thermometer outside, one in)?

That's a good idea. I don't have a portable thermometer (just an indoor/outdoor attached to the house). It would be interesting to see the difference...
