Is that cheapo tulle good enough for the hug?

Is that cheapo tulle good enough for the hug?
Thanks for giving me the gift of my first DIY project(s) DeJohna and Sgt Rock
Going to make one of each.

Two questions:
1) Instructions call for 55" or wider no-see-um. Would slightly narrower (54") be a problem?
2) Where do you get the "toggle" (this newbie is not familiar with the terminology)? In your book you replace it with a cord lock. Is this a better method?
In the book I made it simpler. Tie the shock cord to one side and attach a cord lock to the other side. The cord lock does double duty as an adjusting device for the shock cord and also becomes the toggle.
Imagine a toggle to be the top of a capitol "T". If you had a loop on a string, you could hook it on the "T" or toggle. Buttons on shirts or pants are toggles that are flat and wide. Usually when we talk of toggles, we're talking about a stick style. Some "mountain men" clothing uses these flat toggles as buttons as the disc style buttons are more difficult to make.
The toggle slides through a loop of grosgrain that is sewn on the opposite side of the HUG. Pull the shock cord around the underside of your hammock and fit the cordlock/toggle in the loop to fasten.
A smaller width will work, especially if your hammock isn't too wide. The HUG should be about as wide as the hammock so it will drape around the hammock once it is loaded.
Send me a PM if you have any questions.

The 4 that I made, all used the cordlock as the toggle. Works well.

Makes sense. Thanks! Great book BTW.
I just made one of these out of tulle and used it this past weekend. It worked great and was much easier to get into and out of than my old bug sock (also lighter and less bulky).
Thanks!
A picture is worth a thousand words! Thanks for your many tips!

I have made a full net out of tulle for my gathered end hammock, but was already thinking how I won't like getting in and out of it during the night when nature calls. I'll still use it when its really so hot I'm not using quilts, but I'm going to get a couple yards of nanoseeum and make a Hug for the rest of the time when I am using quilts. Many thanks.
