Also, last time a lot of blow downs along the access trail were cleared. Much of it large diameter but GREEN at the time. Much of it was less than 1/2 mile from the shelter & just tossed to the side of the trail. Maybe if each grabbed a branch on the way in,,,,,,,,

After the, , , , , , difficulty, keeping a fire going with WET frozen wood last year, I'm bringing a 3 pack of Duraflame (R) type logs, one for each night I'll be there*, to help start the fire. Yea, that's cheating, but if the wood is as wet this time as it was last time, AND frozen solid, AND covered in Snow, I have no problem "Cheating"

*I may stay Sunday night also, but will forgo the fire if I can't start it quickly without cheating.

I want to go, but it depends on if I can replenish my winter gear in time and if I can find a ride. My first experience driving in the mountains was an adventure...I think I'd like to get proficient at it before I try doing it with the added snow difficulty.

So count me as a tentative attendee.

Just ordered a bunch of primaloft from The Rainshed for a better winter UQ. This thing will have 9 oz/sq. yd. and I'm thinking of adding a space blanket to this one too. NOT gonna have cold toes this year!

Just don't "tempt" those ponies by saying "Is that all you got!" The pain from the first kick my take some time due to the frostbite you may have in your appendages !

Hey Doctari, I use cabinet doors and other "junk wood" for fires, I figure I'm there to enjoy myself & relax, not to survive! So go ahead and bring on the Duraflames & I'll bring some cabinet doors and we'll be warm!!!

    SO COOL!!! Fire GOOD!

FYI, Over 3 days we use A LOT of wood, even for the moderate fire we usually build. But then again, it's going 16 - 18 or more hrs at a time. Sat: two FULL sleds of wood went in about 3 hrs, counting what was there before the sleds arrived Friday PM.

Last time we got it to snow by daring it to, I'm guessing "Is that all you got?" will work too.
