Very nice detailed read of your overnight trip. Sounds like a great time was had by both of you.

I agree with MAD777, and others about grouping together in Florida to change the Hammock NON-HANG rule. I'd like to see this changed, as hammock campers are amongst the most responsible campers out there. IMHO.

Maybe talk it over in another thread, and looking to see lots of Florida Hammock Hangers in January.

Great read for your first outing.

Hope I can get what gear I need together so I can make the hang in Ocala. If nothing else, I will just drive up and see what I can pick up in knowledge from the pros.

I have spent 30 minutes searching every possible variation of words in reference to MAD777 comment "Theoretically, there is a statewide hammock ban in state parks." I just cant come up with anything on the internet.

But it is just great, since I just got my pass for Florida State Parks and National Parks and Federal Recreation.

What a great read, I really enjoyed it. I too was a boy scout and the pictures reminded me of many nights I've had in the Florida woods throughout my childhood. After living in my condo for three years and having no real out door space, I've come to the same conclusion that I need to just get out and enjoy more out door quality time.
