bunk bed style
you could put them side by side if you would have 3 threes
spreaders might work, never tried it, but it would be a pita to get in, or if only one is loaded the whole rig would be unbalanced (would kiss the ground pretty hard )
I had a similar thought about spreader bars. The only issue is see with them is that they may require an all or nothing approach. Where both hammocks must be loaded and unloaded at the same time.
Here is a cool thread on it .... look at the third or fourth post...
Hope this helps.....

If you look at the 6th image in my gallery, TZBrown is doing just that. Seems to work good.

It works and it works very well. Me and my wife do this often you really only need 1 spreader bar to make this work we just put 1 on the head end of our hammocks. And I just use my hiking pole with prussik knots tied onto the pole and then attach the pole to the suspensions on the hammocks. There is no problem with having to enter at the same time or anything like that. You can use them as normal. The only issue I have found is make sure that your tarp is pitched wide enough that the bars dont rub the sides of your tarp.
I think it would be interesting, if unequally loaded could be trouble but it would be fun to watch. A logo for it would be Acme Brand with a pic of the coyote and road runner. We would watch for the roadrunner to answer natures call and the coyote go spinning around till the nylon webbing stored up enough energy then a massive unwind and off he goes to the moon.
i seen tz brown set up seem to work very well even with one hammock loaded and the other unloaded.
I've seen it done at one of the group hangs in Hot Springs (Speer and his wife). Seemed to work just fine for them!! It's been a while but I seem to remember they used a wooden bar to seperate the two hammocks.
