Got a Hammock for my daughter, BY CHANCE!

    Hello all,
Thought I would share this with everyone. I happen to be talking to a lady at work about where to find cheap rip stop nylon locally, when suddenly she stopped in the middle of her sentence and asked why the heck I was looking for rip stop nylon. she thought it was odd. I explained that I was going to make my daughter a DIY hammock that I promised for her birthday (that has now passed!!). Then she said, "well, I have one that she can have and it will fit her perfect". I said no you don't understand we are going to camp in them and don't want the big bulky rope hammock with 2X4 spreader bars, you know the type. she said no this one has no spreader bar and is red, orange, and yellow. I told her that was great and my daughter would love it. Why turn down a perfectly good hammock?!?! she brought it in the next day and I took it home to my daughter. I quickly threw it up out back and she jumped right in and started swinging. In fact she almost fell asleep! she loved it and later on her cousins came over and they all played in it!! What a great chance find!

Now this thing is pretty short and seems to be made out of cotton but for my daughter it works real well. i'll probably put better suspension on it as the factory ropes need to go. This thing is not an ideal camping hammock by any stretch, but it is a hammock and it's all hers, that's the only thing she cares about!

Pretty sure I'm still going to make her one out of rip stop though! pics below:

picture of her great unckle pushing her on the new hammock!

Just lounging, almost asleep and look she already has that natural diagonal lay going on!!!

The crazy cousins arrive and attack!

    Pretty Cool in my book!

    Thanks,
    Tbull

Glad to see the hammock was hung rather low for when the load increased...exponentially!
