Made my first under quilt from the Sports Authority down throws. Trimmed the perimeter of the throw with grosgrain ribbon, sewing it to the throw with two rows of stitches to create a channel. Down the length I pulled gutted paracord for the suspension. On the ends I used bungee cord with cord locks so the ends could be drawn in to shape the UQ and prevent gaps.

I made this UQ for use with my indoor Brazilian hammock. The throws are pretty heavy (25.5oz finished), don't compress too well and kind of thin for backpacking use. It's basically a 3/4 length UQ and works just fine indoors. I sleep in a top quilt with foot box, so my feet haven't been getting cold. Mission accomplished. Now to make a TQ for the throws.

That looks good. I think this would make a pretty good summer UQ. I'm using mine on the couch now. Think I'll wait until spring and then do what you did Knotty.

    Knotty,
After seeing your setup, I think I might need to come spend the night! It looks comfy and warm.

Thanks all. I weighed the finished quilt and it comes in at 25.5oz.

I should mention that I'm attaching the paracord suspension to the standard Jacks-r-Better underquilt suspension at each end. The Figure 9's at one end allow me to adjust the paracord length for proper fit. A Brazilian hammock is way to long to just attach the JRB bungee suspension directly to the UQ.

I used two together last weekend, put them together, wrapped quarters in the corners (well, at the end, but in one "square") & shock-corded them to my suspension. Worked ok, but I'm sure I was compressing the one closest to me a bit.

I like the way you did the grosgrain. I wonder how hard it would be to layer two of them. I like the idea of having a non-wasteful way to have a light-weight & heavier UQ.

Forgot to provide a link to my other SA down throw project, a top quilt.
