    Welcome Ashman! I did the same as you, heard about hammocks and this group, spent some time 'listening' then ordered a Hennesy from REI. I chose that route because of their return policy. If you are not satisfied, take it back. They will refund your money no questions asked, even if you order it on-line. If you have a store close by, order on-line and have it shipped to the store for free.

    I'm not sure what geological conditions caused the ground to get harder over the last 20 years, but I switched to a hammock because of it. I'm really glad I did. I also echo the comments about getting an underquilt to stay warm. I consider it a necessity, not an option.

    Now if my new JRB tarp would just get here.....
