    SailmakerSupply "spinn" fabric

I think this fabric is just ripstop nylon. Not SpinnTex. Thur-Hiker states that SpinnTex EXP is "polyester rip stop". SailRite has a spinnaker fabric similar to SailMaker, but in 60" width:

The standard for spinnaker and drifter fabric! Nylite 90 Ripstop Nylon Black 3/4 oz 60" is a lightweight spinnaker cloth that has been resin impregnated for stability and coated for zero porosity. Ripstop sailcloth has a nylon weave construction that looks like a continuous series of small squares for an increased ability to prevent tears. Nylon ripstop has controlled stretch, zero porosity, and remarkable durability in use and in storage.
This Nylite ripstop is the most widely used for all-purpose spinnakers, asymmetrical racing spinnakers, drifters, staysails, and kites. Available in many great colors!
    Width: 60 inches
    Weight: .75 oz.

Spinnaker fabric doesn't mean it's SpinnTex

I get what your saying, but this fabric is totally different than nylon ripstop. It has a paper quality just like the OES spinn tarp I looked at.

The answer I got from the tarp and hammock producers is that Thru Hiker is the one known source for SpinnUL that will sell in small quantitiies.

what makes spintex/spinn UL special is it's degree of waterproofness (zero porisity means little) woven and then coated fabric is only waterproof to a point, with enough pressure, water will be foreced through.

to my knowledge there is only one supplier and type of spinaker fabric that is water resistent enough not to mist through, and with the proper coating to stay that way.

all "other" spinn fabric i've tried has either misted through badly when new and the ones that seemed good enough new lost it after a good "roughing up". the spintex/spinnUL is special in that it has a silicone coating, other sailcloth doesn't.
