I saw one guy's JRB UQ and all the down had settled to the bottom. No down was left on the sides at all. When you picked it up you could see through the UQ. I don't know which one it was

That can actually be an advantage. I know that a lot of times I will shake the down to the bottom of the JRB quilt so that I will have more insulation where it's needed, on the bottom.Originally Posted by Ewker

I have both the NS and the RMNS.
With both I was at first dissapointed about the amount of down used:
When laid out flat, there were actually large gaps in the chambers, void of any filling.
This maybe is ok when using it as an underquilt, because one does not need any down at all in the outer 20% of the quilt. Also, when used as a blanket in the Hammock, this will fold up due to the restricted space above the sleeper and give enough loft.
Still, as with sleepng bags, I like really filled chambers, because I am a very cold sleeper.
So I had an additional filling: 9oz in the NS, 12.3oz into the RMNS.
With an excellent 90/10 down of higher fill power than the original down.
This cost me € 100,- (on top of the € 420,- already paid) but was well worth it, because now I have two really warm quilts the way I need them.

I've got a large JRB quilt and I don't see large gaps at all when the quilt is laid out. It fluffs out to the 2.5" height specified and doesn't have any gaps unless you push the down to the side.
Well, I do recommend them! Excellent workmanship and design!
Its just that I am a stickler for warmth and use both at home as bedding, too.
As a for Hammock use, top or bottom, as mentioned in my first post, the amount of down inside them is sufficient enough.
But yes, a bit more down would be a good thing, though.

How many people who actually own a Nest report the down shifting to their detriment? Anyone waking up with cold shoulders? Is this a theme or a very isolated incident? You are supposed to be able to shift the down, but has that been a problem to any Nest owners? (edit) Could it have been a problem with the quilt being too tight? (/edit)
Neo - Ed Speer's book pushes his stuff quite heavily and really doesn't say anything I hadn't read online before buying the silly book. With regards to the Jacks posting, I actually like manufacturers who are easy to reach and post in public areas.
Yep there are alot of REI's that push that book.
Never had any problems with shifting of the down in my Nest or No Sniveler.
It shifted if and when I wanted it to.

I own the nest and use it much more often than any bag. I do tend to agree with Oetzi about wanting more down. I wish I could order it or the ORM / RMS with overfill since I am a cold sleeper.
