    Hanging in a Dorm Room

I'm wanting to hang my new hammock in my dorm room, but haven't come up with any good ways of doing so.

Is it possible to make a cheap'ish stand? (it would be nice to have one for home too, as long as it's portable) Maybe out of PVC pipe?

I should be able to hang one side by putting a screw in the closet (wood walls), but the walls of the room are cinder block, the ceiling is a false ceiling that seems to be a sheet of metal about a foot below the actual concrete ceiling (idk why). If there's a way to put some screws into the cinder clock walls, then I probably will (not supposed to put screws in anything.. but oh well ). Another way would be hanging it on a bunk bed frame, but I think the angle would be too great.

Idk, anyone have any ideas or experience that'll get my juices flowing more?

I helped my buddy design a stand modeled after the one Sgt rock designed for his son out of fence railing, only a little taller. We skipped this plan after we priced out the hardware (near $90!) and I loaned him my metal hammock stand ($40).

I don't think PVC is strong enough?

If you can't put in bolts, a stand is a good alternative.

Be wary of screwing in any bolts into your dorm room walls, closet or ceiling. Most schools take a very dim view of what they consider semi-permanent modifications. They clasifty them as damage and come after you accordingly.

Its a bit expensive to "just try it out " but if you are not happy you can probably return it. Also I don't know if this will fit your hammock. Other than this maybe you can make a stand to your specifications.

I have never seen, but have heard of a contraption that consistes of 4x4's and 2x4's creating a total "frame" around floor, walls and ceiling. There is minimum, if any, attachments to walls or ceiling. Bradley made something similar in this post.

Good luck and let us know your solution. As always, pictures are appreciated!
