    Hammock Stand

I just found this incredible deal for a hammock stand on eBay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ht_1003wt_1141

The asking price was $79.99 "or make an offer" on 11/1/10 (I notice that it's now $89.99), and so I made an offer and got it for $70.00, which included shipping (which must of been half the cost, as it weighs over 50 lbs.) - The guy probably raised his price, 'cause this was a really good deal. In fact, the UPS driver said this was the 4th one she had delivered on the same day!

The stand is 15' end-to-end, and 44" high...too far apart and not quite high enough for my WBBB. So I took the end pipes to my local muffler shop friend, who, for 10 bucks, put three 10 degree bends in each end pipe, for a total of 30 degrees. The piping is really beefy 2" stock. There's no way this will ever bend under load. In fact, the muffler shop initially wasn't sure if their pipe bender could bend it. The stand clicks together in under a minute with spring-loaded buttons.

Now the height is about 5" 6" and the end-to-end-distance perfect for my WBBB.

Pix are included of it set up in my son's bedroom, in order to give some idea about the pipe bends and the set up with my WBBB.

Note: when some weight is put in the hammock, the slack is taken up in the slightly loose pipe joints, and the pipe ends come a few inches closer together. This allows the hammock to settle closer to the floor to just the right height, with just the right c. 30 degree angle in the suspension straps.

Nice modification---I've hesitated to get these because i feared my WBBB wouldn't fit. Now I've just got to make a friend at the muffler shop.
