    Hammock Options

Hey Guys I have decided to covert to hammocks after trying them out. What I’m trying to put together right now is a system that goes in the range of 15-75 degrees. I am looking at buying a Speer Hammock. I am wondering what is the best quilting options for it. I have been looking at using the Speer under/over quilt combination. Does anyone have any experience using these? Or what other combinations would you recommend?

Other information you might want to know is that I live around Raleigh, NC, But go camping just about anywhere in any type of weather.

    Thank you.

I have/use a set of the Speer quilts (Snugfit+Top Quilt) and I find them to be first rate. The SnugFit is a wonderful design and only needs to be adjusted once per hammock. I don't know of any other design that is as comprehensive, or that requires less tedious tinkering. If I had to do it over, I would buy the quilts again, but I would opt for the overfill option for the overquilt.

The JRB quilts are very popular too, and worth checking out.

I recently took the Speer SnugFit down to it's stated limit of 30*, and it performed very well. It could gone a little lower, IMHO. With the addition of a pad I think you could hit the 15* mark with the Snug Fit. It's a great quilt.

The JRB Rocky Mountain No Sniveller would probably perform just as well or would be a good top quilt.
