    Hexon 1.0 or 1.6

I am looking to cut some large amounts of weight from my Ridgerunner setup by switching to a gathered end, in preparation of an AT thru hike attempt next March. The Hexon 1.0 is an extremely appealing weight, but, will it be comfortable enough? The Hexon 1.6 adds about 4.5-5 ounces, which feels like quite a bit at this point in my weight-shaving. Any 1.0 advocates out there who can give me some positive vibes about pulling the trigger, or am I better off sucking it up and carrying the extra ounces of the 1.6? For reference, (or critique/tips) the rest of my base weight will include; ULA OHM 2.0, Warbonnet Yeti 20°, Hammock Gear Cuben Fiber Standard with doors, Loco Libre 20° topquilt, 12' 2.2 kevlar straps, Snow Peak LiteMax stove, Toaks Light 550 cook pot, plus first aid, etc. Thanks for the help, folks.

I can't speak for the 1.0 on a bridge hammock, but it's become my go to for my gathered end. It has a bit of give compared to the 1.6, but still feels solid (6'1", 205 lbs). I have no reservations about using it on a long trail. It's durable and comfortable to me. I tend to like a bit less flex in a fabric, but the 1.0 seems just right for me. A little give and nice, soft feel.

I knew I forgot something important. I am 5' 10" and about 160 lbs. As far as stretch preference, that is unknown at this point.

I think you will be happy with the 1.0. If it was me though, for a thru I would reinforce the corners like you do tarp pull outs. There can be a lot of stress at that point. You probably seen Grizz's articles on reducing weight of a bridge but he is the Guru.

I am about 230, 5'9" and love my 1.0. It has far less stretch than hyperD and about the same as argon 1.6 - if you know the feel of those. It, also, is incredibly comfortable fabric.

Comfortable is definitely the goal here, so that is great to hear.

Thanks for the reassurance, Dutch. What did you use for your thru?

I've been using a 1.0 gathered end for a while and for me there is quite a bit of stretch to account for when getting it set up, but once it's up it's so comfortable. I also feel a very small amount of shoulder squeeze, but it doesn't really bother me. For reference I'm 6'3" and 200 lb.

I recently made a 11' GE Hexon 1.0 with a NS50 integrated bugnet and it has worked great. I also echo the comments above about the feel of this material, it is very nice. Total weight in a sack was 10.0oz and I am 5'10" 190.
