I got the opportunity to hike the Sipsey a lot this summer and fall and it truly outstanding from a beauty standpoint. The Pinhoti trail in Eastern Alabama is outstanding also.

You do have to watch out for spooky stuff out there!
When I was there early Oct Fall Creek Falls ( a big one) was just kind of dripping. No more than if a lawn hose was on medium pressure. But it will be wet again soon and the falls will be roaring!
NCP, did y'all go this last weekend, the 5th/6th? Because I was going to go solo Fri, canceled at the last minute due to the fire ban. Then saw later that night the ban had been lifted at the last minute!
Great trip report thanks for sharing.

It's hard to believe "the Land of 1000 Waterfalls" could be reduced to a drizzle. I'll bet it's just saving itself for a really big show later on. I remember when a barely over-the-ankle deep stream at dusk turned into an over-the-chest deep river by midnight. Sipsey must be the drainage basin for a very large area.

If you are going to do the Sipsey again in March please tell me now so I can plan for it.
I have to say that in all the places I've been the Sipsey was one of the biggest surprises. To get to do it with AS,Hetaroi, and BankheadBoy was a gift due to their knowledge and love of the area. Just please please pick one of my off weeks!
Excellent report NCPatrick!
Do you know any of the trail numbers that you went on? I am planning on doing a trip there this saturday and wondering which are worth checking out

Sorry I didn't catch you before you left (?) but unfortunately I did not catch the trail numbers. If you contact bankheadboy, heteroi, or angrysparrow, they might be able to tell you the exact trail numbers...
We'll definitely keep you posted. Hopefully the water will be running in the Spring. It was so dry when we were there that many waterfalls were completely dry.
